ST. PETERSBURG -- There was a time when the Rays and their public relations team were working overtime in an effort to repair the broken ties with the community. Even then, big announcements were met with a smattering of reporters at best.
On Tuesday, the Batters' Eye Restaurant was teeming with media, well-wishers and award recipients, a testament as much to American League champion Tampa Bay's success this season as to the Rays Baseball Foundation's ongoing relationship with the community.
