Meet Results | NCAA East Prelim Information | Day 1 Recap | Day 2 Recap GREENSBORO, N.C. - Sophomores Nicole Rozario and Jared Thomas followed in the footsteps of a pair of teammates as the University of South Florida track and field duo qualified for the NCAA National Championships during the third and final day of action at the NCAA East Preliminary Round. Rozario, expected to run Friday night in the 3,000 steeplechase, instead had to run Saturday morning after heavy rains and lightning forced the postponement of the race. She placed eighth overall to earn a spot at the national meet June 9-12 at Hayward Field at the University of Oregon. "It's exciting because I've always wanted to run there," said Rozario. "I didn't get to go last year (when she was hurt for the USA Junior National Championships). I still don't believe that I made it. Coach (Dena) Reif has been telling me that was our goal since the beginning of the season. It feels very good to see that goal come to life." Thomas, meanwhile, just squeaked by to get to Oregon, taking 12th overall in the discus at the Irwin Belk Track on the campus of North Carolina A&T. The top 12 finishers in each event at the East Prelim will advance to nationals to meet the top 12 finishers from the West Prelim. Rozario placed second behind Ashley Higginson of Princeton in the second heat, running a time of 10:30.36. The top three finishers in each of the three heats advanced to the Championships along with the next three best times. Rozario's eighth-place finish among a field of 48 equaled her East Region ranking coming into the meet.

It was against a "very vanilla" defense that couldn't so much as tackle him, but Saturday was an impressive night for USF QB B.J. Daniels. The sophomore-to-be threw for 381 yards and five touchdowns in leading the "South Florida" team past the "Bulls" team 49-31 at Raymond James Stadium. "I really didn't want it to be this much of a passing fest," said first-year coach Skip Holtz, who set limitations on his defense to help limit injuries. "But I was really impressed with the job that B.J. Daniels did as a quarterback. We all know he's a great athlete and what he can do, but I think he's starting to do some good things from a mental standpoint." Four of Daniels' touchdowns went to senior WR Dontavia Bogan, who caught nine passes for 228 yards, including a 77-yarder down the sideline for the game's first touchdown. Said Holtz: "Bogan really stepped up and did some great things."
Up-and-down defense
The first-team defense gave up far too many big plays even while being limited to no blitzing and certain coverages. But it did score two touchdowns. Redshirt freshman S JaQuez Jenkins, a graduate of Lakewood High in St. Petersburg, returned an interception for a score, and LB Mike Lanaris returned a fumble for one. LB DeDe Lattimore returned a fumble to the 10, setting up a Mo Plancher touchdown.

Tampa Bay Rays 8 to 1 to Win 2010 World Series

The Rays have the best winning percentage in baseball so far this season.
The New York Yankees have played outstanding baseball so far this post-season as they have a .704 winning percentage through 27 games. However despite all of their success, they are not even the leaders of their division as the Tampa Bay Rays are 21-7 on the year so far.
One thing that is very head turning with Tampa Bay is that they are 12-1 on the road so far this year. Most teams play worse on the road when compared to their home record, but the Rays have been dominant so far although one seriously has to question if they can keep that kind of road winning percentage up for much longer.
So far the best offensive player for Tampa Bay has been third basemen Evan Langoria whose OPS is 1.050. Langoria has an impressive 7 home runs on the year and his batting average at this point is .356.
On the mound 26 year old Matt Garza has been the Ray best pitcher.
Garza appears to be on track for a career year as he is already 5-1 with a WHIP of only 1.070. His best season so far was in 2008, when the Rays made the World Series, when he went 11-9 during the regular season.

Coachman Park in downtown Clearwater will be the official host site to hundreds of community volunteers that will be rockin’ and walkin’ from 6 p.m. May 7 to noon on May 8 during the 15th annual Clearwater Relay For Life event themed Rock on the Water, Cancer is a Beach!
The Clearwater Relay volunteer committee hit the track running after hosting its annual kick-off party at the Belleview Biltmore Country Club in November where 15 teams signed on including PostcardMania, Clearwater Beach Hyatt, The Oaks of Clearwater, Sunscreen Film Festival Committee, Clearwater Highschool and many more.
Over the past few months, Clearwater Relay has received generous support from local businesses. Abe Moussa, proprietor of Mugs on Missouri, hosted a Clearwater Relay fundraiser in December joined by Special Ed from Wild 94.1. Abe donated a portion of the evening’s restaurant sales. Special Ed sold copies of his Scary Karaoke Show CD and donated 100 percent of the proceeds. In total, nearly $2000 was raised for Clearwater Relay at this single benefit.

The Buccaneers' 2010 schedule gives fans a reason for hope

Say what you will about the Bucs and their offseason dormancy, but with the NFL releasing its 2010 regular season schedule on Tuesday, things are looking up for next year after all. The Bucs open the regular season September 12 at home against the Cleveland Browns, who are coming off of a 5-11 season in '09. Four of their first seven, as well as three of the final five games will be played at Raymond James Stadium. However, during a five week stint from 10/31-11/28, the Bucs will be on the road for all but one of those contests. In lieu of using the word easy when describing Tampa Bay's schedule, it's apparent that the schedule makers have at the very least made it managable for the Bucs to handle, compared to last season's brutal schedule that ultimately contributed to their 3-13 record.
